    Location Location Location

    When you ready to get ready to start you should already have your location picked out. That could makeor break your first time experience. If you fail getting a location dont give up try try again. Never give up is my MOTTO. And I live by that. Why would I let NO ruin it. Always talk to the owner of the spot. Dont just run in and ask. Show up and start talking about things going on in your area. And get them to know you. Then go in for the Kill....
    * Car Washes
    * Church funtions
    * New Business (Grand Openings)
    * HOA functions
    * Car Shows

    This is just a couple places. I dont want to take hunt for you, you have to do some work.

    Special Events

    I always look up on www.Craigslist.com and type up functions and there is always functions going on. Call them up and talk to them. Now when yougo and talk to them always dress for the occasion. I always wear my Big Slicks Shirt and have my business card and a flyer ready. Well go out there and find your prime spot.

    Good Luck

    Oh boy need to find a commisary...

    Well I would like to give you all some advise. I went to find a certified commisary and walked into one and talk to a manager and walked straight out. She wanted 150.00 up front for the year and gave me the advise of "We do alot of carts and they never come here. So just fill out your log and I will sign it." Well thats not the way I want to start out with business. So my advise is find a good place ask your health department for a list of resturants that are in your area that can be a certified kitchen. Or there are several other options you can do. Churches,VFW basically any lodge, any resturant. Just I would suggest not to pay for the year in advance. You might find one better and cheaper down the road.

    If you dont know JUST ASK....

    Ok so I bought the cart and it needed Tons of work. And I was unsure of where I could get some stuff that needed to be on the cart. The big thing was the gas burners and hardware i was going to need. I asked around and I was running our of budget with money so I called a Victor and he let me look at his cart and I was able to get some ideas. But still going to cost me some money. I got on www.roadfood.com and asked around. See the burners were older them both my parents and were not in good condition. So I got some good advice from another vendor and cleaned them up and they are like brand new now. And it only cost me $8.00. the point I am trying to get at make sure #1 your cart is in working condition when you pay for it. #2 If you dont know dont be scared to ask questions.

    Time to find a Cart.....

    Ok now that I have the OK from the Boss... (Wife) I looked and had to figure out what Cart that I wanted and what my Health department wanted. If your looking to buy you cart make sure you know the regs on what your health Department requires. So I had a meeting with Victors Cart. http://www.cartsbyvictor.com/ and discussed with him about his prices. His prices were good but were a little out of my range. So I got a idea now what I was looking for so the next step was I wanted to check out http://www.craigslist.com/ there were several hot dog carts for sell that were in my range. So i called a couple and either I got no anwser or they were already sold. Wow people are buying these up quick. So about 2 weeks later I found one, made time togo down and see it. talked the guy down to 600.00 bucks it needed some work. So I hook it up to my truck and off to my house.

    Well this was a BIG mistake. I had one issue after another. I have been better of buying a new one or one that didnt need much work. I was just trying to save a buck. Well this is my first cart looks alot better then when I first got it.. So all you future Hot Dog Vendors if you think your saving a buck going cheap. It does not always work.

    In the Beginning.

    Well I had already known that I wanted to sell Vienna Beef products including there poppy seed buns. I just needed to find out where to get them. I contacted Vienna Beef and they had a Phoenix Rep get a hold of me the next day. So he gave me the name and number of the company that I get my products. Now I have gone and got price checks of all my products and have the list complete. I have searched the web for fellow Hot Doggers like myself and found www.roadfood.com that place is full of information.

    Who doesn't love Hot Dogs

    I would like to introduce myself, my name is Jason Bong, aka "Big Slick". God I love that name. It has been a name that I loved for some time. The name of my bowling team is Big Slicks. Although if one of my friends yelled "Hey Bong" I would also anwser to that too. Every since High School I have been in the Health care industry. But I have always had the dream of owning my own business. I mean who doesn't. SoI have tried to own a Landscaping Company but that didnt work. To Hot... And I tried to sell Hot wheels on EBAY... Yeah that didnt work either. One day me and one of my best friends Richard and Jeston, who are also on my league said we should open a Hot Dog Vending Business. And its been all uphill since then. Although they desided not to join in the venture. The next day I went and got my name of my business listed and got I Fed ID number. I was ready, so I thought. My smart wife sat me down and talked to me. "You need to read whatit takes to run and operate a Hot Dog vending company. So for the next 3 weeks I studied everythingI could find on the web. I developed a business plan and submitted it to my wife. So liked it and then we moved on to the next step... In my blog I hope to help everyone start up there Vending business.
